Oats and Vegemite Biscuits: A Heart-Healthy, B Vitamin Boost for You (and Your Dog)!

Oats, a heart-healthy grain, and Vegemite, rich in B vitamins, including B12, are the star ingredients in these biscuits. Their nutritional benefits, packed with heart-healthy goodness and B vitamins, make them a great choice for health-conscious individuals. Just remember to use Vegemite sparingly due to its high salt content, particularly if sharing with your furry friend!

Makes: 50 small biscuits

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of rolled oats
  • One free-range egg
  • 60ml water
  • ½ to 1 teaspoon Vegemite (optional for dogs; adjust amount carefully)

Method:

  1. In a large bowl, mix all ingredients, slowly adding water until combined.
  2. Roll the mixture into 2cm balls and bake at 160°C for 30 minutes or until golden.
  3. Cool and store in an airtight container for up to five days, or freeze for up to six weeks.

Note:

When sharing with your dog, rest assured that the Vegemite is used in tiny amounts, as too much salt harms pets. Allergies: Although rare, some dogs might be allergic to oats. Always introduce new foods gradually and observe your dog for any adverse reactions and consult with your vet before introducing new ingredients to your dog’s diet!
